Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one of the most common elements of marketing and advertising online. It’s one of the ways to get your content and business noticed by internet users. Whether you’re just starting up a company or you’ve been in the game for years, search engine optimization is a critical solution for increasing local visibility. For any business, it’s important to make sure that the website is optimized to work with search engines, and that any content that gets published on as many platforms as possible.
Today, I’m going to show you how to get free email marketing for your small business in Deep Creek Lake, Morgantown, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Baltimore, or beyond.
Ready to get started? Let’s go!
First, you’re going to want to head over to https://www.mailerlite.com, or search for “mailerlite” in your favorite search engine/web browser.
Now, you should see the screen below. To get started, click the Sign Up button in the upper right corner.
Fill out the registration with your information. It’s worth noting that MailerLite now requires a TLD (top-level domain) email address to register for their forever free plan. This means that you will have to have your own domain, like whatever.com, and an email address, like [email protected], in order to get a free account. If you need help with this, feel free to reach out!
Once you’ve registered your account, you should be redirected to the screen below:
First, complete your profile with as much information as possible.
Note, our account was reviewed by a real person, so details can help make the process quicker and easier!
Next, verify your website domain. This is where you’ll need that TLD email, like [email protected], to pass the quality check. This is a good thing, as it means that your emails will likely have a higher deliverability rate, as fewer spammers will be able to access the platform.
Okay, that’s it! Now you’ll just need to wait until you receive an email from the MailerLite team. If there are any issues, they will give you a chance to review and update them. For example, broken site links, or incomplete pages (i.e.; coming soon) may not pass the verification test for their free tier. Updating them quickly and responding to their request should help you get approved once you’ve made any needed updates.
Once you’re approved, you’re ready to start creating email marketing campaigns! Pretty easy right?

*Note, the MailChimp design team is amazing and frequently tries cutting edge designs in the wild. Your experience may vary slightly from the screen captures, but the content and steps are just as easy.

2 – Register for a free email marketing account with your business email address and create a username that you will be able to easily remember.
3 – Click the activate account button in the email sent by MailChimp. Note, this may take a few minutes to arrive.
4 – Confirm you’re human. Note, this may only appear if you are on a shared connection.
5 – Select your preferred pricing tier – we often start with free, but many accounts upgrade after the first 6 months to a year if their marketing strategies are effective.
6 – Fill out the remaining information fields in the guided wizard. (See multiple screenshots below.)
7 – Sign-up for MailChimp’s email newsletters to get tips and tricks. We love these emails, as they often contain handy tips, but these are optional emails.
8 – You’re finished! For most folks, this process takes only about 10 minutes. Pretty easy right?
Now, you’ll want to set-up opt-in forms on your website, Facebook and other social media sites, and collect emails at in-person locations.
Don’t forget to upgrade once you’ve tracked some mileage from MailChimp. It’s rad to support companies that help folks get early traction and utilize their tools for free while you’re building an audience.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a complex field. Yet, there are a few easy things you can do to make your website more visible in search engines. This article will help you make your Deep Creek Lake website more visible, and hopefully find more customers!
Deep Creek Lake SEO
The Deep Creek Lake area is a popular vacation destination for visitors and residents alike. Located in Garrett County, Maryland, the area hosts spectacular views of Maryland’s largest lake and the surrounding mountains. It is one of the most visited places in the state during the summer and winter months, and is also know as Maryland’s Best Kept Secret. If you have a website or blog that is geared towards vacationers or residents, you may want to begin incorporating some SEO (search engine optimization) techniques to attract more visitors. If you are unfamiliar with SEO, it is essentially the process of making your website easier for search engines to crawl and index, ultimately pushing it up in the search rankings. Search engine optimization is not a quick-fix solution, and it is not a magic. In fact, there are several things that you can do to improve your Deep Creek Lake SEO:
Hire a professional SEO (search engine optimization) professional.
Hire a Deep Creek Lake website developer who understands the importance of SEO.
Submit press releases to Garrett County News, and other syndicated news sources that accept user-generated press releases.
Working together to build a strong local economy is vital to helping small businesses succeed in Garrett County and at Deep Creek Lake.
Garrett County Community
While it may seem like a simple concept, collaboration is a powerful tool that communities can use to bring about positive change. In a community the size of Garrett County, collaboration between community leaders, the county government, and members of the business community is essential to Garrett County’s long-term growth and prosperity.
Garrett County Networking
As a business owner, you might already know that it is important to build and maintain strong connections with your industry peers and community leaders. Having a strong network within your industry has many benefits, from giving you access to information on new developments you can use to improve your business, to giving you a stronger sense of community and support overall. But how do you build and maintain a strong network? First, find other business owners in your area, and get to know them. Try meeting with them for lunch, or invite them to sit on your volunteer boards or to participate in your business networking events. If you are a newer business owner, try to find a mentor who can give you advice and help you learn how to run your business. In Garrett County, we even have a newly formed startup community: Garrett County Startups that is available to help small businesses and startups in Garrett County and at Deep Creek Lake. Plus, it’s 100% FREE for locals who live in Garrett County, Preston County, Tucker County, and Mineral County.
Tell us what your thoughts are on local economic development. We’d love to hear what needs you have, and how we can help small businesses and startups in Garrett County succeed.
When it comes to economic development, it pays to be prepared for the future. That means keeping an eye on the latest trends and figuring out how you can leverage them to attract new businesses, strengthen existing ones, and help your community thrive. With the last few years bringing such momentous changes to our businesses, our economy, and even our planet, the new year offers a unique opportunity to look forward and consider how we can best shape our economic future.
Garrett County Reviews is a new website where you can discuss or leave reviews about businesses near you. The idea is to help consumers make more informed decisions when it comes to their purchases, allowing them to choose between local establishments and global brands that have been reviewed by community members like you!
Step 1: While website hosting and domain registration can be acquired separately, we recommend purchasing them together to simplify and streamline your website hosting services. The primary exception would be small businesses and entrepreneurs who are planning on purchasing Google’s hosted email services (via GMail, Google App Services). These inboxes are rather expensive, but offer the best deliverability rates that we’ve tested. In this case, Google Domains offers a streamlined, albeit expensive way to set this up with no technical expertise (domain only, hosting not included – see hosting options below). Now, let’s look at our two top picks!
Bluehost * 9/10 – Bluehost is one of the oldest and most trusted website hosting companies on the Internet. One of the things that really sets Bluehost apart is the ease of use for newcomers, and the ability to create an all-in-one system including: website hosting, domain registration, automated backups, email accounts and forwarders, and more (features vary by the plan selected).
Namecheap 6.5/10 – While Namecheap requires additional set-up and configuration, it includes the ability to configure the same features at a slightly lower price barrier. While these plans include free SSL certificate for the first year, we recommend that you also consider Cloudflare for flexible SSL and improved speed as these servers tend to be a bit slower than Bluehost in our web hosting experiences.
Step 2: It’s 2021, you definitely don’t need a dedicated website developer. Save yourself $10-$25,000 by purchasing either a WordPress design kit like Divi or Elementor, or a predesigned theme package from Themeforest. This section is primarily personal preference, so we don’t go into a lot of details, but all of the recommended sites have been used by our team for several years
Divi * 9/10 – Powerhouse website development toolkit, endless possibilities, everything is editable, but requires time.
Step 3: Building, maintaining, and effectively using an email marketing list was rated the #1 marketing tool in 2020 in our recent survey, and is expected to become even more effective in 2021/2022 as organic search traffic continues to decrease for non-paid indexing and social media traffic dips lower as user disperse to a variety of social media platforms.
ConvertKit * 10/10 – Simply out, this is the #1 recommendation we make to all of our clients. ConvertKit combines several highly effective tools into a streamlined and efficient product that includes not only email marketing, but also features landing pages, deliverable incentives, competitions, etc…
MailChimp 7.5/10 – MailChimp was previously our #1 recommendation, but hasn’t managed to keep up with market completion, and now offers significantly fewer tools than competitors. However, core email marketing services continue to be effective and high deliverability rates.
Using two different tools that tap into GPT-3, these articles were ready to roll with just tiny bit of editing, and I actually only encountered one error: Philadelphia is not a place to live in Maryland haha.
Nevertheless, these small proof of concepts were really interesting, because they proved – at least to me – that content generation sourced from AI can be (scary) good.
I plan on running additional tests this week during one or two evenings, and I’ll be sure to follow-up with the results.
